About Me

My health odyssey has been an arduous, but transformative one. I grew up on a typical Western/Caribbean diet consisting of foods like chicken, lamb, white rice & peas, white potatoes, salmon, spaghetti, refined sugars, etc. I consume none of those things now.

At the age of 13, I began exercising in an attempt to grow muscle, amass strength, and live a healthier lifestyle. It definitely paid off as I became one of the strongest, most muscular kids in secondary school.

By the age of 14 I started boxing, with no distinct goal in mind, I tagged along with a couple of friends to have fun. It turns out that I was the only one who stuck to it! The more I learned in these classes, the more my passion for the sport was invigorated. It allowed me to unite my upper body with my lower body when striking, moving, and defending. Most importantly, it taught me self-defence. Once a week turned into three times a week. I was in. As a result, I started looking at other ways to nourish my body for this sport. I became more focused on my resistance training, continuously taking on new information about various methods of training to achieve different results. I looked at nutrition and how what we consume affects the body. My Auntie Iyabor has a great part to play in this as she was the ‘fit person’ in the family. She advised me on intelligent training, what to eat, and when to eat it. I didn’t have the most impressive diet, but I was changing nonetheless.

At age 16, 2017, is when my musical theatre training commenced at WAC Arts. Do not ask me to sing or dance as those are not my forte (yes I can move in a club, but not on theatre stages). Acting was my speciality.

2019 was the year when new paradigm shifts occurred. I signed up for Jack Kontou Wing Chun, to take my self-defence training to another level by utilising my entire body. This was also the year I went from being a second-year at WAC to a third-year. WAC was full throttle. 9 am till 6 pm, five days a week of singing, acting, and dancing - and don’t forget about staying behind in school to practice. On top of that, I had a part-time job! Time. I wanted to be more efficient. Going to the gym was an onerous task with everything that I was juggling. So at age 17 later in this year, I took my acting teacher Ben's advice and incorporated bodyweight training as my primary method of training, to allow more flexibility in when and where I trained; most of the time I trained at WAC. This was divine timing because soon after the gyms closed due to lockdown!

November of 2019 is when I adopted a Plant-Based diet. The chicken and salmon were replaced with chickpeas, lentils, black beans, and other legumes. White rice was replaced, with black and wild rice; more leafy greens were implemented, and a load more fruit! It was a gradual change that affected my entire being. At this time I was doing a more comprehensive study into fitness and health. I was reading scientific studies, studying anatomy, biology, physiology, herbs, nutrition and its relationship to the human body (how it affects us physically, mentally, and emotionally).

I concluded that there are more pros to whole foods plant-based diet than there are to a standard Western diet. How did I feel when I made the change? For a short period, I felt low on energy. This was due to my body detoxing. After that… I felt amazing. My skin cleared up and my energy levels spiked. This is because my body was circulating more oxygen, and didn't have to work as hard to break down the food I was consuming. The enhanced blood flow (therefore oxygen circulation) also meant that my strength levels had increased because my cells were gaining more oxygen, and had an increased ability to grow. So this resulted in more mass even though I failed to eat as much since the food was so nutrient-dense. Tiredness was a massive issue for me as it disrupted my mood and by extension my concentration and my learning. I went from always falling asleep in school, to being able to apply more focus than ever before. I decreased my food intake, began fasting, and ate with a purpose.

January 2020, on my way home from WAC Arts, I crossed paths with a friend on the train who was coming home from work. We were conversating about health & fitness. I had told him about my arrival with bodyweight training, and converting to a Plant-Based diet.  He then told me about Calisthenics (bodyweight) training classes in Shoreditch he used to attend, held by a group named Spartanfam. He went on to tell me about one of the trainers, Coupe DC, a Plant-Baesd Nutritionist/Bodyweight Personal Trainer whose content I may be interested in. I viewed his content, emailed him, and then hired him as my Personal Trainer/Nutritionist to improve my health (in a general sense) through nutrition, but since I was new to the bodyweight training field and he was adept with this, why not pay him for this service also? I was with him for three months and gained a tremendous amount of knowledge on nutrition, fitness, and holistic living. I’m a sponge when it comes to that kind of information.

September 2020 is when I enrolled in Dr. Llaila Afrika’s ‘Certified Holistic Nutritional Counselor Level 1’ course. Lockdown had arrived, and I had finished my Level 6 Diploma in Musical Theatre at WAC Arts. It was an aligned time to partake in this course due to the abundance of time. This course taught me how to examine the quality of the human body by analysing the hair, skin, eyes, etc, to identify health or sickness. The course was in-depth, multifaceted, and extensive. During this period of time, I was struggling in life. Going through a conscious ‘growth spurt’. This disrupted my balance as a new one was emerging. Travelling to Kemet (known to the modern Western world as Egypt), in mid-2022, helped monumentally. It allowed me to meet those whom I am in sync with, connect with the ancestors, and do a lot of internal work.

All these events that have taken place in my history have allowed me to be the being I am today. And with my experience & knowledge, I would like to help you through the correct use of herbs, food, exercise, and analysing lifestyle factors. Let’s bring to fruition the quality of life that you envision. Peace.
